Island Homes take a firm but fair approach in recovering outstanding rent owed. We accept that from time to time the personal circumstances of our tenants may change (for example illness or unemployment) and that this can sometimes make it difficult to pay. In such cases we will provide tenants with every assistance to help them to keep arrears to a minimum and agree a repayment plan to clear the debt that is owed.

If at any point you are in arrears and cannot pay your outstanding balance off at once, you should contact your Income Recovery Officer as soon as possible. Arrangements can be made to pay off your arrears in installments according to your circumstances. If you are struggling with multiple debts, a referral can be made to a free independent debt counselling service that can help you to budget and negotiate with your creditors. However if your arrears remain unpaid and you fail to make a repayment agreement then as a last resort we will commence legal action to gain possession of your home.
