Team Manager in Camden Floating Support
I have worked in the Housing Care and Support Department since 2003, when I was recruited as a graduate trainee support worker.
I am now a Team Manager and continue to enjoy the challenges this brings. I spend a lot of time dealing with the day to day running of the service which involves attending regular meetings with our stakeholders. I am also involved in recruitment, staff inductions and training and have attended an extensive managerial training programme.
There is a great amount of job satisfaction in the job that I do and the fact that I work with some lovely people really helps.
Support Officer, Kings Terrace
Working in Housing, Care and Support has given me a fantastic insight into the issues that vulnerable people have to deal with in their everyday lives.
I am constantly learning new transferable skills which include how to communicate with a wide variety of people and different approaches to diffusing difficult situations. I have also been able to gain valuable knowledge of the supported housing sector.
It can be a demanding role, but it's a role I really enjoy and would recommend.
Neighbourhood Team Leader
I work in the Neighbourhood Team as the Senior Housing Officer and I am responsible for housing and tenancy management functions.
There is never a dull moment in my role, as I deal with issues ranging from mutual exchange to anti-social behaviour.
The work can be challenging at times, but I have a close working relationship with my team members and because of that we enjoy working together to find solutions to issues relating to tenancy management.
Housing Administrator
As a Housing Administrator you need to be proactive, very flexible and willing to learn.
The housing management department team is responsible for all aspects of customer care which include dealing with issues surrounding repairs, anti-sociable behaviour, income collection and re-housing.
The highlight for me is that I have been able to gain a unique insight into every aspect of housing management, while assisting the team in all areas of their day to day roles.
Working here has helped my confidence to grow tremendously, which has been helped by having a team who are caring, reliable, hardworking and dedicated.
Marketing and PR Officer
As the Marketing and PR Officer for One Housing Group I work with members of staff and external suppliers to produce a range of marketing materials for residential and corporate use.
The diversity of our audience means that the role is full of variety which has enabled me to gain a unique insight into all areas of the business.
As well as being the involved in day to day marketing activities relating to press, PR and general promotions, I have been given the opportunity to work on a number of projects for the group which have all served to increase my overall development within the role.
Moving from the private into the public sector has definitely been a learning curve for me but I have gained some valuable experience which I will be able to use throughout my marketing career.
Youth Development Officer
My role as a Youth Development Officer means that I have a lot of involvement with those responsible for meeting the needs of young people services.
I work closely with local authorities, community partnerships and councils to develop a range of services i.e. art, craft and social activities that will engage youngsters from our One Housing Group properties and encourage them to interact with each other even if they are from different estates or communities.
I very much enjoy the varieties associated with my job and find it very rewarding when the activities are a success. It’s great to know that you are making a difference, however small to the lives of young people.
IT Support Technician
I chose a career in I.T. as it is a very dynamic field. Since joining the organisation I have been sent on a number of courses and have had the opportunity to study for two valuable IT examinations.
As a Support IT Technician for One Housing Group I regularly get to visit all of our remote sites, sorting out problems and interacting with members of staff.
Sometimes the job can become stressful, especially if there are IT issues that affect a large number of people at one time. However I do enjoy this challenging aspect of my role and find it ultimately rewarding to help staff to continue working effectively day to day.
