How to get involved
There are many ways in which Toynbee residents can get involved and help improve the delivery of services.

Residents can help informally with occasional participation once or twice a year, for example

  • Joining panel discussions, workshops, or focus groups. These are usually subject specific and facilitated by staff or an external consultant. The discussion may cover one area in depth or a broader range of questions about a particular activity or service area.
  • Telephone or postal surveys - are typically used to measure end-user satisfaction with service delivery. Residents are randomly selected and invited to give feedback.
  • Residents Groups - residents who wish to become more involved in the monitoring the management of their homes can do so by joining the local Residents Association on their estate. If one does not exist Toynbee will support the development of a new group. Residents are also welcome to share their views at estate-based surgeries attended by their Housing Officer or volunteering to accompany the Housing Officer on their monthly inspections.
  • Residents who wish to be involved at a more strategic level can do so by attending local Area Forums - here residents are able to comment on new policies and proposals for service improvement. At the highest level two residents are selected to sit on the Associations Board as a Resident Representative. At all levels of participation Toynbee encourages residents to get involved and will provide training where this is appropriate to increase personal effectiveness.
